Description

The relief sculpture of the “Monument of the Thessalian Farmer” was commissioned from the Thessalian sculptor Dimitris (Mimis) Yentekos. In the original relief sculpture, the farmers were portrayed in a state of rage, brandishing sickles and other sharp farming tools. After the intervention of the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture in 1981, the scythe and other sharp tools were removed from the relief that had been approved and installed at the Kileler Monument; they were replaced by “gentle” agricultural tools, such as a stick and a sack, and by wheat stalks.
