Description

The short film BETTY (Dimitris Stavrakas, 1979), which narrates a day in the life of the transgender queer activist Betty Vakalidou, was rejected from the Thessaloniki Film Festival in 1979. The preliminary committee argued that, although it was an aesthetically solid film, “the social harm that it inflicts is greater than its artistic benefit”.
