Description
Starring Nikos Mouratidis –now a famous TV personality–, LA BELLE was a short silent film that nowadays would be classified as “gender performance”. Mouratidis appears wearing a blonde wig and garters, posing sensually and caressing himself, as a parody of both pin-up girls of the 1950s and homosexual identity. The film was not granted a screening license, and it was rejected by the preliminary committee of the Thessaloniki Film Anti-Festival in 1977 on the grounds of being “decadent” and “inartistic”.
